First Nations Consultation

Robert Diaz and his staff work with First Nations treaty teams and resource management departments to establish consultation and referral processes through which First Nations offices can work better with the BC Provincial Government and the Canadian Federal Government.

DMCS works alongside government, industry and First Nations to document First Nations aboriginal rights and title as they related to development projects.

DMCS’s commitment to this kind of work is based on recent Supreme Court decisions and the BC Government’s 2002 policy on First Nations consultation which sought the creation of cost recovery referral portfolios and service contracts with government and industry to ensure that First Nations staffs are compensated adequately for their efforts.
