Most Land Use and Occupancy Studies involve the following stages:
- Archival and library research
- Community-based and elder interviewing
- Creation of overview and site maps
- Ground-truthing (field surveys)
- Report writing, final mapping
- Database design and data entry
DM Cultural Services, Ltd. is prepared to apply these skills to any scale of project. We have taken on watershed-based assessments and surveys of the traditional uses of entire traditional territories. We are also prepared to train your community members to assist in this research or to conduct the research themselves.
